Tulum - Beach Week Day 3
If you haven't been to the Mexican Riviera yet, book your ticket today. The area is easy to get to, just book yourself on a flight to Cancun, then hop in a taxi and start heading south. It's only an hour or so away from spring break hell, but worlds apart in terms of attitude. (BTW Jet Blue flies to Cancun and is having a fare sale through Jan. 14. Roundtrips from NYC start at $298.)
Were we heading down to Mexico, our destination would be Casa De Miel, a new eco-chic resort that's swank enough for A-listers (Charlize Theron and her main squeeze Stuart Townsend reportedly celebrated New Year's Eve here.) The resort touts its "Rustic Luxury" which translates into fresh seafood dishes and mango margaritas, candles in every room since the electricity cuts out at 11 pm and beachside cabanas that are cooled by ocean breezes (read: No a.c.).
Casa de Miel offers cleanses, which seem to be all the rage this week after New Year's. Included in the 6-night cleanse program is a 2-day fruit and vegetable fast, followed by four days of healthy meals that also include fish and chicken, daily yoga and meditation and 2 massages. If we were going to do a cleanse this would be the place we would do it. It's gotta be easier to eat healthfully while away from the demands of your real life.
