Lulu Guiness Luggage
Make a flirty entrance anywhere you go with the new Lulu Guinness luggage. We're recent converts to hard-sided luggage and would never go back. Plus, they have the pre-requisite 360 degree wheels, which are handy when you're in a rush in a crowded airport and want to avoid running over people's toes.
The suitcases also come in black and are available at Lulu Guiness stores and online.

Jet Blue's Celebrity Baggage Auction
Here's your chance to travel like the stars—or at least with their baggage. Celebrities including Jessica Simpson, Kellan Lutz and Rosario Dawson donated their used luggage to Jet Blue's Celebrity Baggage Auction to benefit DoSomething.org a group that helps kids across the country. That's Jessica's well used bag, above and Kelly Osbourne's below.
Each bag includes two round trip tickets on Jet Blue and of course you won't have to pay to check your new bag in as the first bag is always free.
In addition, Jet Blue is giving away bags and tickets on its Facebook fan page. For every entry received, Jet Blue donates $1 to DoSomething.org. Talk about a win-win! The auctions end June 6.

Jimmy Choo Luggage
The new Jimmy Choo luggage may have replaced this set as our fantasy luggage. Both pieces measure L15 x H18.5 x W9 and are lined in leopard print. The leopard print piece is $4,995
and the black patent is $3,295.
Both pieces are far too pretty to ever check, but that's OK. In our fantasy, we only fly on private planes. Available on JimmyChoo.com.

New Women's Trench from ScotteVest
If you've read our blog long enough, you know what big proponents we are of carrying on your luggage. It saves you checked bag fees, time by avoiding the luggage carrier, and you'll never be without your favorite LBD because the airline lost your luggage.
Scottvest takes it to another extreme by designing clothes that have so many hidden pockets, you can pack your clothes and amenities right in your jacket. Fully packed they are comically bulky; but the airlines don't have a response yet to this crafty way of getting around the luggage issues. Until now we haven't been impressed with the styles of the tops, vests and jackets for women; but their new trench coat is a huge improvement. It's available in four versatile colors: the red is a beaut, the periwinkle great for Spring and Summer and the black and tan good for those of you who don't want your coat making a bright color statement.
Until we have the chance to try one of these jackets ourselves, you can read K.D. Summer's trial as seen in the Washington Post.
Price is $130 at ScotteVest.

Tumi Spring Collection
We love our Tumi carry on bags and though we've only had them a year or so; we've dragged them all over the world already. (That's Hope in Tuscany above.) This spring Tumi is introducing its first line of sunglasses inspired by famous bridges and their balance of form and function using materials including leather, aluminum, titanium and stainless steel.
Tumi also introduced their new Bravo collection of day bags this Spring. Our pick is the unstructured Kessler Large Duffel in Linen which attaches easily to our Tumi system (for extra packing space) or could be used alone for a quick trip.
Looking for more Tumi? Check out the graffic art series of luggage by artist Crash. You wouldn't miss one of these on the luggage carousel!

Tumi’s Graffiti Art Suitcases
If you have this limited Tumi edition bag, you’ll never mistake your suitcase for someone else’s when it comes down the baggage carousel! The designs are created by graffiti artist John “Crash” Matos who says of the pieces, “They speak volumes…you can see joy, sadness, anger…and they also give the impression of Pop Art, but with the flair for now.” A limited edition of 1,000 signed pieces will be available ranging from $45 to $595. The Tumi’s Graffiti Art Suitcases will be available in March 2011.

Luggage We Love
Thanks to New York Magazine for turning us on to this jewel of a luggage piece. The diamond-like edges of the Delsey Karat suitcase makes this the biggest rock we've ever seen. Plus, it has 360-degree wheels--a MUST for the next piece of luggage you buy!

Crate and Barrel's T-Tech by Tumi Luggage
Everyone's favorite home store, Crate and Barrel, is now carrying an exclusive line of T-Tech by Tumi luggage. The pieces are sleek and black with red trim. They have an expandable zipper so you can make your luggage roomier should you happen to buy too much when you're on vacation--not that that has ever happened to us! The one down side is that the bags don't have 360 degree wheels and we've vowed never to buy a bag again without them. If you feel the same way, you may want to limit your purchase to one of the Tumi zip top tote bags. They'll make great carry ons and are a steal at $39.95.

TSA Changes

We're always interested in changes to the carry on regulations, since we try to avoid checking whenever possible. Here's a sampling of some of the things TSA wants you to pack in your checked baggage or leave at home.
Cranberry sauce, cologne, creamy dips and spreads (cheeses, peanut butter, etc.), gift baskets with food items (salsa, jams and salad dressings), gravy, jams, jellies, lotions, maple syrup, oils and vinegars, perfume, salad dressing, and salsa.
We're puzzled by the cheese restriction: do they make draw a line between a triple cream and an aged cheddar? When in doubt, send or pack it. By the way, pies can be carried on but are subject to additional screening.

Lani and Lola Tote Couture Women's Laptop Bags
All work and no play makes for a disappointing getaway. But if you must bring your laptop, carry it in style.
We like these Lani and Lola pleated laptop totes because aside from being cute, they are quite functional. You’ll find designated pockets for your cell phone, pens, business cards and more.
Another convenient surprise is a hidden back pocket that unzips, so you can slide it over rolling luggage handles — a great plus when traveling across busy airport terminals.

The bags are built tough from durable canvas, and they are water resistant, so they hold their own while you jet set from place to place. All you have to do is pick your favorite design. Lani is green and brown, while Lola is black and white.

Lost Luggage

Ever since our friend Paul over at Daily Makeover told us about Is This Your Luggage, we've become obsessed with the site. Photographer Luna Laboo buys luggage that is lost and never claimed. She then photographs the luggage with all its contents in tact in the hopes of finding the rightful owner.
While she has yet to reunite a bag with its owner, it is ridiculously fun to look at the contents of the lost luggage and wonder about the person who packed a particular bag. For instance, why did this guy need eight pairs of blue jeans? And what is that red outfit? It reminds us of the uniform Zach Braff had to wear in Garden State at the pseudo Indian restaurant he worked at in L.A.
Ever lost a bag? Check out Is This Your Luggage and maybe you'll see it again--along with the rest of the world!

Laptop Sleeves
Going on a girls' getaway, especially when you write about them, means traveling with your laptop. Since we're much more likely to be carrying our favorite tote instead of a computer case, we've been on the lookout for a computer sleeve. We want something that will protect our laptops from spills and drops; but is sleek enough that we can fit it into our bags that aren't designed to carry computers.
This handsome leather laptop sleeve by MacCase is the only one we found that comes with an accessory pouch. The light tan is our pick; but it comes in six other colors too.

The Manhattan Beach Computer Laptop Sleeve by California Leash comes in a handful of super chic patterns. The only problem here is finding the perfect carry-on to go with it.
Looking for something more basic? This pink and brown reversible neoprene cover from Case Logic is on sale for $15.99. The snug fit means it will fit well in your favorite tote.

The Laura Merkin laptop bags are almost too pretty to use for a computer. Bonus: they are on sale at Gilt for $98 or until they're sold out.

In the end, we bought this totally cute neoprene case in a red and pink print from Walmart for only $12. When it's that cheap, you can afford to change it up with the season or your mood.

Win a Smythson Jewelry Roll

We dream about the day we can afford the Smythson Weekender bag for our short jaunts—til then, we’re satiating our leather lust with their accessories, like the jewelry roll,

a passport cover

and the classic travel journals.

JSG is excited to be partnering with Smythson to giveaway a jewelry roll in mustard, valued at $465. On Our Radar: Win Your Dream Trip

We always hesitate to tell you about these contests, because it means more competition for us. But this one is too good to keep to ourselves! Kipling is sponsoring a Monkey World Tour contest where the grand prize winner gets a trip to the destination of their dreams, in the form of a $7,500 travel voucher. Our dream pick? Capetown South Africa, because New York Magazine has us all hyped up to go on a safari now.
Kipling also has a fun Facebook ap where you take a quiz and invite your friends to join in to see who makes the best travel companions. The questions cover the basics: do you like cities or beaches, Asia or Europe or South America or Africa, how much do you like to plan your trip out, that sorta thing. It's a great place to start when planning a trip.
The site also matches bags for your ideal destination. For our dream trip to South Africa, we're going off the menu, with our own pick the Katie Shoulder Bag. The green will remind us to be on our best eco-friendly behavior.

Where's your dream destination? JSG wants to know!

Discount Luggage

We got ours at Bloomies for $265 (including tax). It's available at eBags for about $20 less, including shipping, but we wanted it for our trip to Austin on Friday. That's the price of procrastination!

Flight 001 Friends and Family Discount

Yet another Friend and Family Discount landed in our inbox. This time it’s for our favorite travel store Flight 001. You’ll get 20% off at check out with the code “Private”.
While we love the store, and they do carry our favorite Halsea luggage, you can probably get a better deal at Bloomies or Macy’s. Now, if only we had extra cash flow, we would be shopping up a storm!
