How to Cure a Hangover

While we're still searching for that ever elusive hangover cure, we can at least fake feeling better with these tips from DailyMakeover.com's Carmindy. In addition to her camouflage tips, we recommend a few cooling products. Two must haves are Rohto Eye Drops in Arctic and Lumene Time Freeze Instant Cooling Eye Stick. If nothing else, you'll at least take your body temp down a few notches while you sweat it out.

How to Avoid a Hangover

After another killer hangover over the weekend, we figure it’s time for a refresher on how to avoid them:

  • Obviously, moderation is key. Our years of drinking have taught us that there’s no hangover cure like not drinking too much the night before.
  • Our acupuncturist recommends drinking vodka over wine (presumably Champagne, too.)
  • Don’t drink on an empty stomach – even if that means having a little nibble before you head to the party or dinner.
  • Mixing booze is a recipe for disaster.
  • Stop drinking at least an hour before you go to bed. Your body doesn’t have a shot at processing the alcohol while you’re asleep.
  • Don’t drink and drive (not related to hangovers, but bears mentioning all the same).
  • Have a glass of water between each drink- dehydration exacerbates a hangover big time!

If all else fails, check out our best hangover cures.

Hangover Cures

pickles
Thanks to the guys over at Men.Style.com for bringing us an interactive list of favorite hangover cures. Some of our favorites are missing: Miso soup, Emergen-C and coconut water, but they have a nice list. We dare any of you to try the pickle juice cure and report back to us! Just looking at it makes us queasy.

Hair of the Dog?

As much as JSG wishes we could promise to eradicate your hangover all together on your girls’ getaway, the only thing we know that will 100% do that is to drink less the night before (Which is as annoying as our dermatologist telling us that the secret to the fountain of youth is staying out of the sun!) Instead, through our combined years of drinking, here’s what we’ve learned can help ease the pain.
1. Gatorade. We prefer classic green since it’s taste is the least offensive .
2. Emer’gen-C. Mix with water and drink down to get more than your day’s supply of Vitamin C as well as a host of other sutff that’s good for you.
3. Miso soup. It’s salty, has a little bit of protein and goes down oh-so-good!
4. Sitting in the steam room. It’s a low-impact way to sweat out all the booze.
5. Bloody Mary. Make that two.

Any other suggestions? We want to hear them!
