I'm not an expert, I can only tell you my experience. My hair was easy to comb and not tangled at all. It did look flat and greasy by the second and third day, though. The advanced patent-pending formulation restores and restructures hair by infusing a special blend of natural keratin deep into the cuticle. The keratin is bonded into the cuticle by the heat of a flat iron to relax the hair’s sub-cuticle layer.

Q: How much time should be allowed for the treatment?

A: Time should be determined on an individual basis. Depending on hair length, type and texture. Please allow a 2 to 3 hour window.

Q: What results can be expected after the treatment?

A: The hair will be more manageable and take much less time to style. (approximately half the time) It will be noticeably softer and straighter, with added life and shine as well as a lengthened look.

Q: Can hair be colored before the treatment?

A: Yes! A great time to have the treatment done would be directly after permanent color, semi-permanent or highlights. The treatment will extend the life and seal the color in, leaving it vibrant, however, for demi-gloss or toners have color done 3-5 days after treatment for optimal results.

Q: Can the treatment be done on chemically treated hair, previously relaxed or straightened hair?

A: YES, But it is recommended to wait two weeks between any chemical services.

Q: How many days after the treatment before the hair can get wet or be washed?

A: You must wait 3 days (72 hours) before washing your hair or swimming.

Q: Can the hair be pulled back or clipped up during the 72-hour waiting period?

A: No. The hair should not have any impressions made by using bands or clips.

Q: What should be done if the hair gets wet during the 72-hour waiting period?

A: Blow the hair dry and flat iron with medium to low heat immediately.

Q: What kind of shampoo and conditioner should be used?

A: Keratin Care Shampoo & Conditioner (Sodium-Chloride Free) or Keratin Color Care Shampoo & Conditioner (Sodium-Chloride and Sulfate Free).

Q: How often can the treatment be done?

A: The treatment can be done as often as every 4-6 weeks.

Q: Is the re-application of the treatment done on the entire head or just on the new growth?

A: The re-application should be done on the entire head as the build-up of keratin can only improve, not harm, the hair.

Q: How long will the treatment last?

A: The treatment will last about4-5months, depending on lifestyle and maintenance, provided the client follows all after care instructions.

Q: Should the hair be cut before or after the treatment?

A: It is recommended that the hair be cut after the treatment, as the hair will have a smoother texture and will lie differently.

Q: Can the treatment be done on pregnant or nursing women?

A: No. It is not recommended.

MAINTENENCE

*We recommend that you use the Keratin infused shampoo and conditioner that is specifically formulated to work in conjunction with the treatment for a longer lasting rejuvenation. If you are not using these products, please ensure that the shampoo and the conditioner you use is SODIUM CHLORIDE AND SULFATE FREE.

*Prior to swimming in the ocean or a chlorinated pool, wet hair and apply conditioner sparingly to protect hair from salt and chlorine. After swimming it’s suggested that you rinse your hair with clear water to eliminate any salt or chlorine build up.

Color

*You can color you hair anytime prior to having the treatment. You must wait 2 weeks to color your hair after the treatment.Henrihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14664237294182727320noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5352686331544955645.post-71260177765374285722010-01-23T16:15:21.104-05:002010-01-23T16:15:21.104-05:00I had my hair treated two months ago. I think to ...I had my hair treated two months ago. I think to measure the time it lasts is by how many shampoo's and not weeks. The 14th time I washed my hair, I thought it might be wearing off, but wasn't sure. Today is my 15th shampoo and YES, I do notice a bit of frizz and want to be treated again next week! My hair has always had a nice curl and wave to it, but the FRIZZ has always been my biggest problem all my life. Just walking past the shower room gives me frizz! I live near the beach and my hair shrinks up into frizz!
Well actually it USED to! That's before I did the Keratin for the first time two months ago on Nov. 20th. I LOVE THIS! This is the hair I have always wanted. The hair I see on other girls and just wish I could have! Now I have that hair! OMG it makes my life so much easier. I will say that I used to wash my hair at least every other day, but now I will go sometimes four or five days, because it looks so good and unless I have to go somewhere, I want to wash it as little as possible. Also, I only use shampoo and Volumizing conditioner without sulfites as recommended by my hair dresser. It only took less than two hours to do. My hairdresser charges $150. and I gave him a $20 tip. He said there is NO REASON that salons should charge 300 to 400 dollars for this, it's nonsense!
And he owns his own salon too!
I'm so happy and I want everyone that has had to suffer with frizz to do this. It's life changing.
If you want straight hair and don't have frizz, I wouldn't do it! It will relax the hair, but not straighten it and I think you are MUCH better off with Rusk straightening or something like that. I have used the Rusk and it made my hair too straight and I still had a lot of frizz, so I have tried everything.
I don't know the difference between the Brazillian Blow Out and the Peter Coppola Keratin, but I had the Coppola and LOVE it! Oh I should add that I do still use a flat iron because it gives it a real "polished" look, but there were a couple of times I skipped the flat iron and still it look fantastic!
I hope this isn't too long and that it's helpful. The fourth time I just let it air dry and I definitely still had all my curl and noticed that my hair was less frizzy and more controllable and if I do blow-dry the process goes quicker (only about 66% of the time it took before)... though I have to say it wasn't a huge difference and my hair honestly never felt like silk and given the cost and how my stylist said my hair would feel like silk and be perfect I was a little disappointed. I've heard it works better the second time you have it done but given the cost not sure if I'll do that.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5352686331544955645.post-56896456986011914712009-10-26T22:01:41.049-04:002009-10-26T22:01:41.049-04:00I did not have any curl left in my hair after the ...I did not have any curl left in my hair after the treatment. Some stylists say it only takes away the frizz; but I think that depends on the hair. If your curl is something you can't live without, I wouldn't recommend this treatment. If you're looking to get rid of frizz; but don't mind losing curl in the process, it's a good choice. The Jet Set Girlshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01417656107717732360noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5352686331544955645.post-11574473840873881482009-10-26T13:34:54.074-04:002009-10-26T13:34:54.074-04:00My hair is really curly!! will it compleley straig...My hair is really curly!! will it compleley straighten my hair, I usually use the permanet hair straighten by rusk and love it, although I get my hair hilighted a week after.
